Description: YWCA Metro St. Louis is dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all. The Sexual Health and Disability Education (SHADE) Program is the first to offer individuals with developmental disabilities comprehensive Sex Education and Sexual Assault Prevention classes in the St. Louis Region. SHADE provides individual sessions and small group classes on building healthier relationships, making new friends, dating, appropriate boundaries, and how to reduce the risk of sexual assault and abuse. In addition, community presentations and trainings are available for family members, staff, and teachers who support individuals with disabilities, as well as staff at domestic and sexual violence organizations and first responders such as law enforcement and medical professionals.
