Desirable Financial/Accounting Capabilities

Financial Accounting modules should provide the following overall capabilities:

• Full scale data integration between modules

• Data integrity

• 99.9% System Uptime – avoid systemic processes and maintenance processes which require full system shutdown to perform

• Security/authorization levels by menu/drop down selection and within application

• In-house customization of user menus/drop down, screens, reports

• PLB specific error messages

• Field checks (date validation, balance verification, other field validation)

• Ability to create and modify “own” code – PLB will “own” customized code outside of the Core modules. All modules will have user definable fields.

• Global backup

• Ad-Hoc Queries in all modules

• Reporting from all modules

We are trying to eliminate the following weaknesses of our existing software:

• Dependence on programming support for reports and queries

• Amount of time required for report and query processing

• Cumbersome interface

• Expensive to maintain source code

• Inability to easily export data to other modules

• Inability to support scheduling information

• Limited inquiries of applications

• Limitation of financial statements

• Programming expertise (RPG IV) harder to find

• Specific application module problems
